Seasonal Greetings

Happy Christmas and a Merry New Year to all our family and friends.

It appears that the Queen has overtaken us in the technology stakes because her Christmas message is now available in podcast (link)

However, my brother's Christmas message is still far more advanced and sets the benchmark for yuletide communications.......(link)

20 Week Scan

Today was our 20 Week scan. Everything is looking fine and the baby was very lively again. It is apparently 30cm long from head to toe, which is bigger than I realised. The midwives seem to have stopped measuring in terms of fruit sizes now e.g. "size of a grape", or "size of a tangerine". I suppose you could say that it is the size of a large banana with an kiwi-fruit stuck to the end.
The big news is that it is a baby boy - and there was no doubt about that!
That means that we need to start thinking about names again because we have only agreed on girls' names.
The nursery is taking shape. It has an underwater theme, so there is plenty of blue paint on the wall, which works out well.
We had a look at push chairs today. I reckon the puschair decision is going to be even harder than agreeing on a name.
Anyway, here are the pics of all the ultrasound scans we've had. The scan today was the final one that is scheduled.

Baby movement

Lindz has been able to feel the baby moving now for about 3 weeks (since week 17) and it was at first a bit like a wispy spider walking around inside (although Lindz hates spiders). Now the baby's movement feels like she being heavily prodded from the inside!
On Sunday night, I was able to feel this prodding from the outside, which was quite exciting. I resisted the urge to prod back in retaliation.
Apparently, it's unusual to be able to feel it externally until about 25-30 weeks, so I was pretty lucky to catch it at the right moment.
We should find out the sex at the scan this week....what will it be?

Mum's 1st Entry

I've had another growth spurt this week. At least 2 people at work have mentioned that they can't believe how big I am after 3 months of pregnancy. Needless to say this has made me feel fantastic. The first growth spurt I had happened 2 weeks ago. I literally went to bed without a bump and woke up with one! I thought I had just been really unobservant before - there's no way this can happen overnight, then I tried on my work clothes. Whereas all my suit trousers had fit okay before I went to bed, now only one pair fit me. It really had happened that quickly. Emergency purchase of maternity trousers followed. To my dismay, when they arrived they were too big - what do I do now? I don't fit into maternity trousers and can't squeeze my bump into my old trousers. Out come the safety pins. For a week I was making these maternity trousers fit by using safety pins, until I discovered the most amazing thing. All maternity trousers come with adjustable waist bands! A fabulous invention that allows the trousers to grow with you. If only I'd discovered this before. Now it's a common fact that a woman's brain cells virtually disappear during pregnancy, but again, I'd hoped to keep my wits about me for a couple more weeks at least. Oh well, I have to say that the joy of knowing I have mine and Nick's baby growing inside me is worth the dementia, the sickness and the tiredness. I am very proud of my little bump, who by the way, I think is a boy.

(Very) Random photos

I've now started adding our photo albums to the blog. On the side-bar are six (very) random pictures from our photo albums.

By the way, Lindsay's mum is certain that we are going to have a baby girl. She has studied the scan video in slow-motion & freeze-frame and has also confirmed it using the highly scientific "needle swinging test" (see link)

12 week scan

Yesterday we had the 12 week ultrasound scan and Baby Bridge was moving around quite frequently. We are gradually ruling out names such as Ruddeger, Seven, Soda and Nick Jr.

My first blog post

This is the 7 week scan of our baby from about 5 weeks ago:
