Weight, travels, football and baby-wearing

Charlie is now 10lb 14oz, still putting on about 2oz per day. He has been to visit his grandparents in Wetherby and Cardiff this week, including seeing his first football match (no further comment). See if you can spot the photo of the big baby having great fun on his playmat.
Charlie has now been to visit both of our workplaces and as a result has learnt the fundamental accounting concepts and the SMART acronym. I believe he said his first word which sounded like "cake".
My big discovery this week is baby-wearing. It may look a bit silly for a man to wear a sling for some reason, but it is really good fun. I suppose it feels a bit like being pregnant.

Registry, Cord, Playmat and Facecake

Several things to report.
Firstly, we registered the birth yesterday which Lindz found particularly exciting. She thought that the paperwork birth was much less painful than the physical one.

Reg

The umbilical cord dropped off today which signifies the end of an era. I don't really know what to do with it now. Any suggestions?

I recorded some video footage of babs on his playmat (see below). He pulls some good expressions during the clip, but saves the best for right at the end...I could watch that bit over and over again!

Other news, I managed to repair my printer using a replacement print head I bought from a facecake supplier who had surplus stock.

Bright eyes

I know this is a bit out of sequence, but I've just re-discovered this video footage from the operating theatre, five minutes after C. was born. This is the first time he opens both of his eyes.

If you find these Youtube clips to be a bit slow and intermittent, try using this accelerator (at your own risk) LINK HERE. It definitely works wonders for me. Otherwise, pause it until you can see that the clip has been fully loaded.

Football Club Allegiance (using science)

Which football club will Charlie support? The scientific way to test this is to use Google maps to check the distance to see which ground is closest to his place of birth. See the results below.

If you look closely, the distance to Anfield and Goodison is the same number of miles, although Anfield must be marginally closer as it takes one minute fewer to reach by road. Therefore he is proven to be a Liverpool fan. What a relief!

(Alex, note that I will not be measuring times from Tulsa at any point for your benefit.)

Charlie vs Daddy

Charlie is certainly enjoying feeding, just like his dad and both his uncles Alex & Buster. The midwife was impressed with his weight gain and suggested that Lindz has "gold-top" on tap. His weight measurements so far have been as follows:

4th May - 8lb 11oz
7th May - 8lb 01oz
11th May - 8lb 11oz
15th May - 9lb 03oz
18th May - 9lb 11oz

My dad sent me my baby weight readings for comparison (see pic). At the moment, Charlie is in the lead by some distance. I'd better eat a few pies for good measure.

Video from the first couple of days

This is from the 2nd night at the hospital last week and gives an idea what Charles is like in action for those who haven't met him yet.

Shampoo

This picture epitomises Charlie's lazy day today.
In the evening, we gave him his first hair-wash. Lindz was expecting him to throw a wobbly but he just took it all in his stride and watched us intently. Now he's a bit fluffier than in the picture.

2nd outing

Here are some more photos of Charlie, including him ready for his 2nd time out of the house. We really tested him this time with a combination of torrential rain, a noisy cafe and a rickety lift in Woolworths, but he slept through the whole thing, probably unaware that he had even left the house.

Baby News! Charlie arrives

Charles Alexander was born on 4th May at 1754h and weighed in at 8lb11oz. Mama and Babs are both doing well after an emergency c-section. Here is a picture of the baby when he was only 20 minutes old! His eyes were wide open, looking right at me.

He has long dark hair but no sideburns yet.
As it was Star Wars Day, we considered calling him Darth, Obi Wan or Jar-Jar, but Charlie suited him better.
